MD Appalachian Trail Hike Itinerary
September 27-29, 2004
Friday (9.7 Miles)
9:00 AM- Meet at Harpers Ferry National Historic Park Visitor’s Center. 171 Shoreline Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425
- Overnight parking is permitted in this lot. We will leave half of the vehicles in Harpers Ferry and carpool to Penn-Mar in the remaining vehicles.
10:00 AM- Meet at Penn-Mar Park. 14600 Pen Mar High Rock Rd, Highfield-Cascade, MD 21719
- Overnight parking is permitted in this lot.
10:30 AM- Step off South bound on the Appalachian Trail
- Break at High Rock Overlook (3 miles)
- Camp at Ensign Cowall Shelter (6.7 miles)
Saturday (15.7 Miles)
7:00 AM- Sunrise, Breakfast, Break Camp
- Annapolis Rocks Overlook (6.6 Miles)
- Washington Monument (5.1 Miles)
- Camp at Rocky Run Shelter (4 miles)
Sunday (15.5 Miles)
7:00 AM- Sunrise, Breakfast, Break Camp
- Gathland State Park (5.4 miles)
- Weaverton Cliffs (5.8 miles)
- Harper’s Ferry (4.3 miles)
- Shuttle bus or walk (1 mile) to Visitor’s Center
Carpool to Penn-Mar. Estimated arrival time 6:30 PM
Participants must provide their own backpacking gear, food, and transportation to and from the hike. Participants under the age of 18 must hike with a parent or guardian. The group will meet at Harpers Ferry and carpool to Penn-Mar.
